I knew I might have a problem when I saw Moda's Figgy Pudding fabric. I couldn't stop thinking about it. I wanted this fabric. After calling all my LQS, I resorted to ordering this fabric online (a first for me). When I saw this pattern, I knew immediately that I wanted to make it. I thought it would be challenge because of the trees and the size, but once I got started, it came together pretty quickly. I worked on it for about 3 months and finished just before Christmas.
After a suggestion from a reader, I decided to hand quilt snowflakes in the blocks. That was taking FOREVER, so I machine quilted around the trees which was a challenge, but I think it motivated me to try machine quilting for my next project. It's so much faster!
For the back, I used ideas from the blogs I read and found an inexpensive brown sheet that was almost the perfect size. The scrappy stripes turned out great too.
Happy Quilt Festival-ing!
I love the trees, that is very cute!

Absolutely stunning. I love it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a hip modern holiday quilt. Figgy pudding is such a fab line. Btw, sheets can be okay if machine quilting but are usually miserable for hand.

I really love how you see the trees on the back, too! That fabric is so gorgeous and your quilt is too!
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing this quilt too and I wanted to make one also, but I have other quilts that had to be done first (they were christmas gifts).....and I remember the first time I bought fabric online, now I'm addicted to it, because it's so EASY (sometimes it causes an argument with the hubby).
ReplyDeleteBut anyways, I really like how your quilt turned out....great job on the snowflakes....and I really like the outline of the trees on the back...so simple!
