Blooming Nine Patch




This quilt was my first very detailed quilt with lots of cutting and small piecing. My mom and I picked out the fabric at Designing Memories in West Memphis, AR. We went back and forth between blues, purples and turquoises, and I think it turned out great! It reminds me of the bottom of a swimming pool. The back is a blue and orange pebble pattern. I have a tendency to use crazy backing that doesn't exactly match the front.

    it's a very pretty quilt! i love that you don't exactly match the back of the quilt to the front. i hope to have the courage to try that out someday.

    Those colors are beautiful! Its always fun to find a fabric you love and put it on the back...makes it seem like two separate quilts...or one great quilt with a happy surprise!

    Lauren, welcome to blogland. I'm a newbie too. It's a lot of fun, isn't it? I love your quilt!!! You are right....it looks like the bottom of a beautiful, refreshing, welcoming swimming pool. The back too somehow reminds me of a pool even though it is different from the front. Thanks for sharing.

    What a pretty Blooming 9 patch- I can see why it reminds you of water.
    Quilting allows one to express themselves in lots of different ways- backings is just one way to do so. There really are no rules about lots of things in quiltings - just preferences and choices.
